Šeiminiškėliai (Voruta) hillfort
This is one of the largest hillforts in Aukštaitija, on which a wooden castle was built in the 13th century, protected by the Vorelis and Volupis streams, which could have been flooded in case of danger. The steep slopes successfully protected the castle defenders from Teutonic Knights attacks. Some research suggests that this may have been the first castle of King Mindaugas mentioned in writing. In 2021, the first structure of the castle complex - the bridge over the Varelės - was restored. In 2004, a wooden observation tower was built at the entrance to the hillfort, and the main archaeological research on the hillfort site was completed. An exhibition was set up in the tower, and history lessons for students began to be organized. The hillfort is also decorated with roof pillars by the sculptor J. Tvardauskas.
