Jonas Biliūnas died in 1907 in the town of Zakopane, at the foot of the Tatra Mountains (now Poland).
In 1953, the remains of J. Biliūnas from Zakopane were reburied on Liudiškės Hill. In 1958, a 14-meter-high monument by architect Vytautas Gabriūnas was erected above the grave.monument – monumetfrom hewn stones from the surrounding area. In the magical tale "The Lamp of Happiness", the writer tells of a glowing magical inscription that appeared on the top of a high, steep mountain - whoever climbs that mountain and reaches the inscription with his hand will make all people happy, and will himself turn into stone.
